Election: Teacher Area

This webquest is designed to assist 4th and 5th grade students in our school in a balanced evaluation of the three candidates for president in 2004.  This was done in preparation for a mock election in our building, which will take place the day before our national election day (November 2nd is a day off from school for us).

For the election itself, I will use an Access database available on our network.  You may download a copy by RIGHT clicking here and choosing save target as....  Each student is handed a card with a random number when they walk in to our computer lab.  The number is not for identification or for tracking votes.  It is done only to ensure that no student votes twice.  The database uses a form which the student completes in order to cast their vote.  The students simply navigate to the database, double click to open and follow the prompts to cast their vote.

The results are tallied at the end of the day using a report.  To view the report, open the database.  Choose unhide from the Window menu.  In the screen that pops up, choose vote 2004 database.  Click reports on the left hand side and double click the Vote Table Query report.  This will give you the full results of your election.

You may modify this as needed for other voting projects.
