The data gets processed at the Alaska Fisheries Sciences Center in Seattle Washington. The center is part of NOAA and it is the home base of most of the scientists on NOAA Ship MILLER FREEMAN. The center is located on a former naval station in Seattle right on the shores of Lake Washington. The campus, which is called the NOAA Western Regional Center, is also home to the NOAA Diving Center. Click here to find the NOAA Western Regional Center using Google Earth. When I came through Seattle on trip home, Michael Guttormsen was kind enough to give me a tour of the lab. Here are some of the highlights:
